First call for Kick-Start Projects

One objective of CORNET is to plan and implement common activities of the participating collective research programmes in Europe. A first call for so called "Kick-Start Projects" was organised with closing date 15 November 2005.

Five project consortia were established consisting of federations, associations or groupings of industrial enterprises and research and technology organisations (RTOs) as subcontractors intending to implememt a common collective research project. The coordinator of each project submitted a common proposal for a kick-start project to the coordinating ("assigned") CORNET agency.

Following the proposal submission, a common evaluation procedure was organised by the participating CORNET agencies and ministries. Each proposal was evaluated by three independent experts. As a result, three projects were selected for funding in a common decision made by the participating representatives of the national research programmes.

Funding of the projects is allocated according to the rules of the national/regional programmes involved in CORNET. That means, every member of a project consortium is funded by the ministry or funding agency of his own region or country. According to the principle of collective research, the results of the work will be disseminated widely to all members of the kick-start consortia.

The three CORNET Kick-start projects started working between June and September 2006.
